RENEWING BOOKS:

Library books can be renewed one time.  Renewals can be made in person, by telephone or via the Internet.  To renew by telephone, borrowers can call the library circulation desk from which they borrowed the book (City 851-1074, North 851-1273, South 851-1772).  To renew via the Internet:

  1. Go to the library homepage at http://elinks.ecc.edu/library

  2. Click on "ECC Library Catalog."

  3. Sing into "My Library Account."  Follow directions on the screen.

  4. Click on "Your Account" at the top of the page.

  5. Click on "Loans."

  6. Click on "Renew All" or on the number of the item you wish to renew and "Renew."

AUDIOVISUAL MATERIALS:

Audiovisual materials are available at each campus.  Borrowing rules and procedures vary by campus and material type.  Please check with a librarian at your campus if you wish to use compact discs, videos, or DVDs.

LAPTOP COMPUTERS:

Only ECC students, faculty and staff can borrow the laptop computers available in the ECC libraries.
Laptops are for in-library use only.
Laptop computers may be borrowed for up to 2 hours.  A late fee of $.50 per hour will be charged.
Laptop users must have a current ECC ID card and an active campus network account.

LATE RETURNS:

  • The owner of the ID used to borrow an item is responsible for its return.

  • Please check the due date stamped in the borrowed items and return them on or before that date.

  • Fines accrue on overdue items at the rate of $.10 per day for each day the library is open, up to a maximum of $10.

  • Fines accrue on reserve items at the rate of $.50 per hour, every hour the library is open, with a fine cap of $50 per item.

LOST MATERIALS:

If an item is lost, please contact the library immediately.  An item not returned six weeks after its due date is considered lost, and a bill will be sent to the borrower for its cost, plus a $10 billing fee.  If an item designated as lost is returned, the borrower will be responsible for paying the late fines.  All fees and fines are nonrefundable.  If an item is out of print and no cost can be determined, the borrower will be charged $20 for paperbacks and $40 for hardbound and the $10 billing fee.  Audiovisual material will be billed at the replacement cost.

Those who owe library fines or lost material charges will be placed on the college Stop List and blocked from registering for classes, obtaining transcripts, and borrowing any other library material.
